This is what sparked Stoltzfus’s idea that eventually grew into the Rosetta Stone we see on the market today. He felt that he had been able to thoroughly learn German not by sitting in a classroom, but instead through experiencing the culture in a natural way, without translation. Years before, Stoltzfus had successfully mastered the German language through immersion in the country.
